Prírodní památka Malhostovická pecka je tvorena vyvýšeným skalním útvarem z devonských vápencu (300 - 332 m. n. m.).
Z ploché krajiny v okolí Malhostovic nápadne vystupuje vápencové bradlo Malhostovická pecka, které je významné hojným výskytem chráneného koniklece velkokvetého. Nedaleký Drásovský kopecek vás zaujme skalní bránou vzniklou zrícením stropu nevelké jeskyne.
Predmetem ochrany je kvetena a ostatní puvodní biota v nedelitelném komplexu s geologickým útvarem.
Výskyt koniklece velkokvetého (Pulsatilla grandis) a lomikámen trojprstý. Ohrožené druhy rostlin zarazené na Cerveném seznamu naší flóry jsou zastoupeny napríklad huseníkem ouškatým, chlupáckem hadincovitým, tarinkou horskou a rozrazilem rozprostreným. Navíc zde rostou nekteré další regionálne významné druhy jako je krucinka chlupatá, ostrice nízká , cesnek chlumní, cistec prímý a divizna knotkovitá.
Významné druhy živocichu jsou zastoupeny predevším pestrým spolecenstvem bezobratlých, mimo jiné zde žije i teplomilná kriticky ohrožená kudlanka nábožná. Z obratlovcu stojí za zmínku ješterka obecná a hnízdící tuhýk obecný a brambornícek cernohlavý.
