This building was originally erected in 1814. The fact that the building was refurbished and expanded 48 years after its original erection is testament to the fact that Great Horton was expanding quite rapidly.
The village originally started to grow when a turnpike road was built connecting to the large town of Halifax. The expansion then continued after Horton, which also includes Little Horton, was incorporated into Bradford in 1847.
Incorporated into the frieze is a floral design, including 2 white roses, the traditional symbol of Yorkshire
It is still used as a church to-day and is Grade II listed building.
The URL link is a document about the whole of the Great Horton preservation area, but has a number of references to the church.
