Melaka River Murals
These murals were painted by a collaboration of artists charged with producing artworks on the rear of buildings in Kampung Dua.
The paintings by eight teams and one individual artist during the period 1 to 22 February 2010, are on the back of a row of shophouses in Jalan Kampung Hulu.
The idea, by Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam, the Melaka chief minister, was to use art to beautify the city and to that end a group of artists from various studios and companies got together to collaborate on the project.
Some of the results are the murals shown here. The murals, depicting scenes from Old Melaka act as a magnet for tourists on the river cruise or walking on the boardwalks that now run along both banks of the river.
