This school was originally built in 1819 as a church Sunday school. At some point it became a full primary school and the building was extended in 1871.

As with most small schools, they get merged with other schools in the area. The current St John’s primary school is in a new building more suited to modern teaching conditions and was opened in 2003.

This old school is now a multi-purpose building. At one end is a pharmacy; in the middle is a workshop for a stained glass business. It refurbishes old stained glass windows, but also takes on commissions for new pieces.

The other end is used by St John’s Church as a charity shop. The shop opened in April 2010 and the funds from the shop are used by the church itself, but also for community projects.
