Die Sanduhr wurde unter anderem von Schott Glaswerke hergestellt.
Jede Stunde werden die Glaszylinder gedreht und dabei von einem Mikroprozessor kontrolliert. Der Prozessor bekommt sein signal vom Funkuhrsender in Braunschweig etwa 300km nördlich von hier.
In der Nähe befindet sich das Kulturhistorische Museum Mainz.

The sandglass was made by the Schott Glaswerke.
The special glass cylinders turn around every hour controled by a microprocessor. The processor receives the dcf77 signal from the radio clock transmitter in Braunschweig (about 300 km north).
