1895 – According to Kelly's Directory the landlord at the time was William Phillips. Early licensees was Mr Phillips who was of a genial disposition. He was succeeded by Mr Williams, formerly head gardener to the Earl of Lisburne at Crosswood. He was an active member of the Aberystwyth Chrysanthemum Society.

1981 – Mrs Joan Chainey takes over as landlady and promptly bans students. The reason for the ban was that a gang of students 'had used vile language, vomited all over the toilets and we also had thefts of ash trays and glassware'. The pub was popular with Welsh speaking students and before Mrs Chainey took over the pub had a reputation for raucous behaviour. (Western Mail 7/10/1981)
2010 current name is Kane's Wine Bar, and I can confirm Student are indeed now allowed in and it is a moderate pub, and has a late license, so has become a student favourite.
