A sign that is odd because the two lines you would suppose would be in Welsh and English. No, reading the welsh in English it reads 'the big street', Not Great Darkgate Street. How Odd.

Great Darkgate Street / Y Strydd Fawr are a single street that is the main centre of retail in the Aberystwyth town centre.

Aberystwyth is a historic market town, administrative centre and holiday resort within Ceredigion, Wales. It is often colloquially known as "Aber", and is located at the confluence of the rivers Ystwyth and Rheidol on the west coast of Wales.

Since the late 19th century, Aberystwyth has also been a major Welsh educational centre, with the establishment of a university college there in 1872.
