Bohuslav Martinu (1890 – 1959) byl svetove proslulý ceský hudební skladatel hudební moderny 20. století.
Jeho hudební zacátky nebyly príliš úspešné byl vyloucen z hudební konzervatore v Praze, jeho pokusy komponovat to však neovlivnilo.
V roce 1919 je v Ceskou filharmonii uvedena jeho kantáta, poté odjíždí do Londýna a Paríže.
V roce 1924 se natrvalo stehuje do Paríže, kde komponuje skladby s civilizacním tématem. Postupne se stává uznávaným skladatelem, jeho hry se hrají v celé Evrope i USA.
Pred druhou svetovou válkou utíká do Ameriky. Zde je o jeho skladby velký zájem, zejmena v Bostonské filharmonii.
Bohuslav Martinu se na konci svého života vrací do Evropy, krátce znovu pusobí v Paríži a Ríme. Umírá ve Švýcarsku.

Bohuslav Martinu (1890 - 1959) was a world-famous Czech composer, musical modernism 20th century.
His musical beginnings were not very successful was expelled from the Music Conservatory in Prague, his attempts to compose it, however, affected.
In 1919, the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra's cantata set, then travels to London and Paris.
In 1924 he moved permanently to Paris, where he composes songs with the theme of civilization. Gradually becoming a recognized composer, his games are played throughout Europe and the USA.
Before World War II flees to America. There is great interest in his compositions, especially in the Boston Philharmonic.
Bohuslav Martinu at the end of his life returned to Europe briefly again active in Paris and Rome. Dies in Switzerland.
