Ve dvacátých letech Jan Nekvapil koupil Thonetuv dvur na rohu Behounské ulice a Jakubského námestí. Na míste jeho staré kavárny zrídil podle projektu Jindricha Kumpošta moderní podnik s kapacitou 1000 hostu.
Vedle bežného kavárenského provozu, který byl ostatne rešen také netradicne - tzv. vídenský typ kavárny s otevrenou kuchyní, meli návštevníci k dispozici i hernu, kde bylo ke každému stolu instalováno i telefonické spojení, bylo všestranne postaráno o dokonalé pohodlí hrácu. Dámy se pak mohly setkávat ve zvláštním salónu v prvním patre. Atmosféru dokresloval malý orchestr na balkonu nad schodištem.
Estetické pusobení architektury bylo podtrženo výtvarne i funkcne vytríbeným vybavením i nekterými dalšími detaily zarízení a výzdoby. Tak napríklad drevené obložení sten bylo nahrazeno travertinem v prízemí, mramorem u oken, onyxem z Maroka na schodišti a alabastrovými deskami, vecer zezadu prosvetlovanými. Pro vetší rovné plochy bylo použito stríbritého plyše. Plyšové byly i cervené koberce v patre. Elegantne jednoduchá, pritom však úcelná a pusobivá byla stropní i nástenná osvetlovací telesa, stejne jako originální hlavní lustr z kourového skla. Oc luxusnejší byl interiér kavárny, o to strízlivejší, až zámerne stroze bylo rešeno ulicní prucelí s hladkou fasádou, prolomenou rozmernými okny. Príjemnou vyhlídku na mestský ruch poskytoval nárožní balkon v prvním poschodí. Z architektonicky cenného a kdysi reprezentativního podniku se zachovala bohužel práve jen tato nepríliš pritažlivá fasáda. Interiéry kavárny vcetne jejího vybavení byly témer znehodnoceny pocátkem padesátých let pri její nešetrné prestavbe na prodejnu s textilem, která tady fungovala bezmála ctyri desetiletí.

For larger flat surfaces were used silver plush. Elegantly simple, yet effective and impressive was the ceiling and wall lighting fixtures, as well as the original main chandelier made of smoked glass. How much more luxurious interior of the cafe, so down to earth, to intentionally dealt with sternly to the street frontage with a smooth facade, broken windows bulky. Nice view of the city crowd to provide a corner on the first floor balcony. The architecturally valuable, and once the company to maintain a representative unfortunately only this very attractive facade. The interiors of cafes, including its equipment was virtually destroyed in the early fifties the wasteful conversion of the textile shop, who worked here almost four decades.
