What's better than a used book store that sells the work of local authors and unique, hard to find gifts? Why one that's haunted of course!

The Bookery features an eclectic array of books and unique gifts. Take a step back in time and into the pages of your favorite book. The house is an authentic Colonial structure and it certainly feels that way when you step inside. Originally, this was the Thomas Budd House, circa 1744. The Budd House is the earliest known residence on its original site in Mount Holly. Thomas Budd was a plantation owner and is one of the incorporates of the Mount Holly Library. His son and grandson, Dr. Stacey Budd, both lived in the home. Dr. Budd added a third floor to the structure, but it was removed in 1927.
The books store was voted best independent book store by some company, organization or contest, I forget which. The Bookery offers a number of these classics toys made from recycled materials. "They are timeless and will last for generations to enjoy." They call them Balance Toys. Noel, the owner, also sells Handmade, crocheted Stockings and The Readers' Wraps which are $85.00 each and are available in a variety of colors! She also sells Nautical kits from AM Kids, really neat bookmarks called Tome Toggles and some neat handbags too. This is so much more than a bookstore. You can get more information HERE. Bottom line is this place is so much more than a book store. Sure they feature interesting and hard to find books with an accent on local authors but Noel the owner is just so original and artistic, her hand and influence can be seen not just in the books store but across the street at the directional marker sign she made.
There is an historic marker on the book store as well. It reads:
House
of
Thomas Budd
Plantation Owner
Circa 1744
Col. Thomas A. Reynolds Chapter - NSDAR
1975
From a previous waymark:
The Thomas Budd house is believed to have been the site where a Hessian soldier was murdered by locals with his own bayonet for killing a little girl during battle. It is believed that his spirit is the one that haunts the house to this very day. The current resident and others witnesses all report ghost activity in this house.
The South Jersey Ghost Research, a local organization which investigates ghosts and hauntings in the Delaware Valley area visited this house on 12-8-01 and again in 2-16-02 and came away with some interesting pictures and documentation of spooky activity.

From yet another waymark I wrote:
The house is made of brick, faded. There are four small, equally spaced windows up at the top, three over three, in what can be best described as an attic. It seems to be two and a half stories. There are three windows beneath those four, four over four. On the bottom floor are two windows with dark green shutters to the left and right of the second elevation entrance. The entrance is accessed by a few steps which come to a small landing. I also noticed a basement from the two windows flush with the ground with brick arches over the small, narrow windows.
