The Sokol (Falcon)movement is a youth sport movement and gymnastics organization first founded in Czech region of Austria-Hungary, Prague, in 1862. The Czech gymnastic organization, was a major component in the transformation of Czech nationalism into a mass movement. The movement’s central tenets were the balance of body and spirit, influenced by romantic or nationalist sports movements in fellow European countries and tracing inspiration back to Ancient Greece.
Almost in every village local organisations of the Sokol movement were established. From the donations of members were built also houses for movement activities, mostly consisted of a gym and a few clubrooms. In Živanice was opened such "Sokol" building exactly on June 29, 1935 as its is mentioned on the facade of the building.
