상주박물관
The city of Sangju is centrally located in South Korea, an the banks of the Nakdong River. It has occupied a strategic location as a gateway to the central plateau and the Han River Valley to the north.
Though inhabited during the bronze age, the region of Sangju flourished during the Silla Dynasty and the later Choseon period. It was the site of a historic battle during the Japanese invasion of 1595, and later during the Korean War.
In modern times it has become known for its persimmons, being the largest producer in Korea, and for its bicycle culture including an annual festival and a bicycle museum, now housed in new facilities near hear. Also near the museum is a world-class equestrian facility just completed to host the 9th World University Equestrian Championships.
The museum includes the main building with numerous displays and diaramas with interpretation, a solar power exhibit hall, housed in a geodesic dome, and other outdoor displays.
Both the displays and the website below have a fair amount of English information.
