This mosaic wall is dedicated to Szondy György, famous Hungarian war-lord. He has sacrificed his life during a battle against the Turkish army in 1552. His sculpture is stood right here but it has been destroyed in 1944 during the siege of Budapest.
The text translated to English reads:
"Szondy György gave his life in 1552 for the homeland.
He defended the fortress of Drégely against the turkis siege.
His admirable heroism gave back the faith of the nation in itself.
We built here a statue to the memory of his heroic in 1939 which
is perished under the siege in 1945. God save this memorial and
this building.
Hotel Britannia and Szondy brasserie."
This wall is located at the corner of Teréz boulevard and Szondy utca on the wall of the Hotel Radisson SAS Béke.
