"Blankets and stuffed animals give children a sense of security, and Hannah Leigh knew that children dealing with homelessness could use a bit of security and stability. For her Gold Award project, Hannah made tied fleece blankets and collected donations of 224 stuffed animals for the Jeffco Action Center, a nonprofit homeless shelter that houses men, women and families while they work on self-sufficiency plans. Hannah also held a workshop for members of other Girl Scout troops and children in her neighborhood.
