ENG: Land for Jewish synagogue bought the wealthy Spitzer family. On it was built in 1886-87 synagogue designed by Viennese architect and native of Bratislava Wilhelm Stiassny. Building was completely destroyed by a fire in 1899. In 1900 has been in the same place - again, according to plans of Stiassny - build a new synagogue in the Moorish style. In the middle of the 20th century building received city. Today it houses the Art School. Original architectural elements in the interior have been preserved - aron ha-kodesh, iron columns. Also exteriors have been renovated - the roof, facade, entrance portal and stone stairs.
CZ: Pozemek pro synagogu zakoupila bohatá židovská rodina Spitzeru. Na nem nechala vystavet v letech 1886-87 synagogu podle projektu vídenského architekta a bratislavského rodáka Wilhelma Stiassnyho. Budova zcela shorela pri požáru v roce 1899. Již za rok byla na stejném míste - opet podle plánu Stiassného - postavena synagoga v maurském slohu. V 50. letech 20. století budovu získalo mesto. Dnes zde sídlí zákldní umelecká škola. Z puvodních architektonických prvku v interiéru se zacovaly aron ha-kodeš, litinové sloupy a drevený kazetový strop. Nedávno byly rekonstruovány exteriéry - strecha, fasáda, vstupní portál a kamenné schody.
