This channel was founded 1993 as "Stadtkanal Basel" and changed the name to "telebasel" in 1997. It is the only Swiss private channel that is not backed by a publishing company or an investor's group.
The program is fully self-produced, mainly news, talk shows, sport and documentaries. The most important program is "7vor7" the main evening news, daily at 6:53 p.m.
During carnival they produce over 23 hours of live broadcasts, this is also the program with the broadest audience.
