Stegosaurus patrí mezi nejznámejší dinosaury. Mozek tohoto ještera nebyl vetší než vlašský orech. Své telo dokázal jen zteží ovládat. Pokud byl napaden nebo chtel odstašit neprítele, nalil své štíty krví, které pak rudou barvou desily útocníka.
Stegosaurus žil v druhohorách, svrchní jura, pred 155-144 mil. let. Nejcastejší nalezište jsou v USA. Stegosaurus byl býložravec a dosahoval velikosti až 9m.
