The bridge was named for M. J. Jackson, owner of a gristmill and sawmill located nearby. The two original builders, A. D. Bottomfield and Joe Pee, information states that a third builder was Karns Rohn. The bridge sets today 200 to 300 yards downstream from its original location due to the 1889 flood.

It appears that maybe the first two builders, Bottomfield and Pee were the original builders and Rohm may have rebuild the bridge in 1889 after the flood.

Any additional information on this matter is welcome.
