The idea of organizing an open air Artillery Museum attached to the Artillery Army School in Vendas Novas came up in 1978, and the exhibit was inaugurated in 1992.

This is an open air museum, with its collection on exhibit in front of the Artillery Army School in Vendas Novas. The display in on a public area just by the main road of the town. There is a wide range of artillery weaponry, with some guns from the 19th Century and plenty of stuff from the 20th Century.
There is an indoors section for those willing to deepen the visit.
The museum, both outdoors and indoors, is open to the public, including on weekends, and the visit is free.
