The Hermann Star Mill was the first steam powered grist mill in Hermann MO. It now is used as a machine shop. The 4-1/2 story building was built in 1867 for $40,000. It was co-owned by wealthy merchants Mattais Kochele and Henry Reitemeyer. Hermann is an old river town, is now known for its wineries. You can still get here by train, the Amtrack Missouri River Runner travels daily between St. Louis and Kansas City stops here.
