Still known as World Cup Stadium, but nicknamed the "Purple Arean," this stadium is home to the professional Daejeon Citizen soccer team, with a seating capacity of over 40,000.
Daejeon World Cup Stadium was built specifically to host games of the 17th FIFA World Cup co-hosted with Japan. After the games it replaced the older sports stadium and become home to the newly formed professional Daejeon Citizen soccer team.
It has a seating capacity of 40,535 and measures 105 meters x 68 meters, and features a retractable roof. There is a capacity of 1,757 parking places.

It is a landmark on National Highway 1, and easily accessed from IC-251 at the Yuseong Exit, immediately adjacent to the stadium on the north edge of Daejeon Metropolitan City.
