In Homer, on the shore of Beluga Lake where seaplanes come and go, is the Lakeside Cabin, which is a nice accommodation for people and pets alike.

The Lakeside Cabin is a former office to an air tour/taxi service. The owners had retired and decided to go into the inn service. The office has full features, including two beds a modern bathroom and a kitchen space (the waste water is limited to a cesspool, so you should mind what goes down and limit the water use where possible). The door opens out to a deck, which allows access to the pier and lake shore. It appears to be a safe place for swimming dogs, but I would still watch them and call them in if a plane is motoring by. The cabin also has a small area for pets to runaround - also the place to park your car(s).

The web site for the place shows what a lovely spot it is at. Toward the bottom of the front page, are the words,

'Pets are welcome too. They seem to like the place:
"Thank you for the help with our elderly dog.
He loved the stay in your cabin --
even he thought it was worth it"'

We were with two dogs in our party. When the owner came to give the orientation, the owner spent some time talking about animals, including a couple stories about past stays (all good!). The dogs loved running around

From here, you are in the town of Homer, which is a fishing village, artist place, and tourist spot, as well as a jumping off location to other places including Kodiak Island. Within walking distance are a bakery and a restaurant or two, and within short drives are downtown Homer (such as it is) and Homer Spit.

The cabin is located near the west end of Lakeshore Drive. At the corner is a fenced in area where horses are kept. The cabin is at the bottom of a straight, short dirt driveway. Rates in 2010 were $150/night + $30 if the second bed was used.
