Access this trig either via the Dover track, a 7km 3-hour hike up from Dover Road, or else as we did, a 14km, 6-hour return hike from Mangorei Road, via the Mangorei track to Pouakai Hut, and on to the trig via the Pouakai track.

Unfortunately this geodetic mark has lost both its ID plaque from the trig beacon as well as its ID plate next to the mark, both of which were placed in 2005.
The mark is a nail in a 50 mm iron pipe cemented into rock beneath a 2m trig beacon which since 2005 has been well graffitied.

It was originally established in 1880 by W. H. Skinner, a prominent early Taranaki surveyor.
State/Territory: North Island NZ
