To get to Wasdale Head Farm and the National Trust camp site you have to cross Lingmell Beck. A wide river at this point. The bridge now replaces the previous structure as a crossing until a better wider one is built.

The previous bridge was a reinforced concrete decked structure which was condemned. New abutments have been built, from which the new bridge is supported. All part of the flood management scheme for Lingmell Beck and the building of a new bridge to allow the beck to flood on a wider plain and not build up behind the bridge as it did and flood the campers on National Trust camp site.
