Until 1869, the historic part of Brandenburg's capital Potsdam was surrounded by a wall. Five gates allowed access. Three of the gates remained until today and of these, the hunters Gate is the oldest.

It was Built in 1733 and was named for the royal hunting grounds that used to be right beyond the gate. Unfortunately, the name of the architect has been lost in time.
