Richards Drugs has been open at 324 E. Main since 1939. This was a Rexall Drug store. The current owner, Gordon Richards, Jr. is the son of the founder. There has been a pharmacy at this location for over 100 years (original store Marmaduke No. 3).
This is an independent pharmacy that dispenses medications, however, they also sell gift items, such as jewelry, home decor, purses, baby items and many other gift selections. Check them out on Facebook.
They are open Mon-Fri from 8:30-6:00 and Saturday from 9:00-1:00.
Gordon Richards Jr. sponsors the Gordon Richards FFA Awards, originated by his father in 1946. A top student from each of eight FFA chapters is awarded a financial scholarship for schooling.
In 2008, Richards commissioned mural artist, Beth Spieler of North Carolina, to paint a history mural on the east side of this building. It depicts a group of people pulling the wall open to expose Richards Drugs as it appeared 50 years ago.
