Lowest Subway Station in Seoul, Korea
While most subways and rail lines cross Seoul's Han River on bridges, the Number 5 line passes through a tunnel under the river, connecting Yeouido Island with the main part of the city north of the River. It's depth is 27.5 meters (90.4 feet) below sea level. Four long, steep escalators connect the station with the street level.
The coordinates are for Exit 3 on the river side. From here it is a short walk along Riverside Park to the wharf where cruise ships depart for trips along the Han River.
About fifteen minutes further east is the famed 63 Building, once the tallest building in Asia, now topped by several in Korea and elsewhere. The views from the observatory are spectacular on a clear day.
Traveling west one finds the large central park joining the north and south sides of the island, and a littler further the Yoido Full Gospel Church, recognized as having the largest church congregation in the world, and finally the National Assembly Building on the west end.
In reality, Yeoido is barely and island now, being separated from the south bank of the Han River by only a narrow canal.
