Portmeirion is a wonderful Italianate style village in North Wales. It was designed by the architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis.

Portmeirion was built to show how you could develop a naturally beautiful setting without spoiling it and that with sufficient skill and care architectural good manners can actually enhance the natural environment.
Portmeirion is a hotel resort and a popular visitor attraction located on the coast of Snowdonia National Park in Gwynedd, North Wales.
You normally have to pay to visit the village, but if you visit the website you can download a voucher for free entry between November and the end of March. The website address is (visit link)
It is also possible to stay in a hotel in the village, or various rooms in the village buildings.

Portmeirion is owned by a registered Charity called the Second Portmeirion Foundation.
On my visit I stayed in one the village rooms called fountains. I have included pictures of this in the gallery.
