The Lions Lookout on the lakefront at Taupo was built by the Taupo Lions Club. A plaque is erected over the viewing binoculars.

In 1961 the Taupo Lions Club built this lookout which provides visitors with an expansive view of the lake and Tongariro National Park (World Heritage Area) at the southern end of Lake Taupo.
A pair of coin operated binoculars were also installed by the Taupo Lions Club and all profits are returned to charitable causes.
The Lions plaque is erected over these binoculars.
