Regrettably, though understandably, the National Gallery of Thailand forbids visitors taking photographs of its exhibits. I say regrettably because these exhibits are truly beautiful, striking and varied. There are a number of galleries, whose contents range from children's artwork to historical and contemporary Thai artists, to western style artwork. Paintings comprise a large majority of artwork, but sculpture makes up a noticeable percentage of the total.

The Gallery is located in the 'tourist' area of Bangkok, near the Grand Palace and other major tourist attractions, easily reached by taxi, public transport, or on foot. There is a Gallery book on sale, with a representative sample of artwork, but unfortunately, only in Thai, no English translation.

from the website:
The museum building was originally the Royal Mint, opened in 1902, and constructed in a then contemporary western style. It was transferred to the Fine Arts Dept in 1974 and re-opened in its current form in 1977. The Gallery has 4130 square metres of exhibition space.
