This theater was built in 1911 as a music hall with the name "Küchlin's Variété Theater". In 1950 it was transformed in a full-time movie theater with 1230 seats. In 1983 it was changed to a duplex theater. In 1991 the building was listed as a site of cultural heritage. This stopped the plans of the owners to tear down the cinema and build a completely new one.
They started a law suit for compensation that lasted until 2002. In 2006 there was a complete renovation and some adjacent properties were included to create a multiplex with eight screens and 2300 seats. The old main building from 1911 holds two screens and a restaurant.
The cinema belongs to the French cinema chain Pathé.
