The Athena Missile was first launched from White Sands missile range near Green River UT February 10th 1964. This missile is an exact replica of this missile.


This multi-stage research missile was used to simulate the trajectories of intercontinental missiles in firings from Green River, Utah to White Sands. During a nine year period, 141 Athenas were launched to test re-entry vehicles and study their behavior. U.S. Air Force
