Along a stretch of the Madison River, within the boundaries of Yellowstone National Park, lies a floodplain which is extremely important to breeding pairs of Trumpeter Swans.

At this location, there is a large pull-out, able to accomadate even the largest recreational vehicles, as well as informational plaques which describe the importance of the natural landscape for the successfull breeding of Trumpeter Swans. Because of the thermally warmer water, swans, along with Canada geese and mallard ducks are able to remain in the area, despite the extreme cold of the winters.
There are plenty of signs that direct visitors to remain on the near side of the log rail, and the area is patrolled routinelly by park law enforcement. Please enjoy the beauty and serenity of these creatures and this location, but respect their space and obey all signs and laws.
