This cross is the only artefact in the churchyard around Westerkirk Parish Church in Bentpath, Dumfries and Galloway. The grass is kept short and churchyard is easily cared for.

The cross is mounted on a pedestal in a gravelled area, to one side of the main entrance of the church. The whole monument is made from a white granite. Carved in relief on the base is a sword with the campaigns; FRANCE/ GALLIPOLI/ PALESTINE/ EGYPT/ ITALY/ listed.
Names of those who fell and did not return are listed with their rank on two other faces. Placed here by the parishioners in 1920.
The inscription reads. "Erected in Commemoration of the true and faithful men, who for God and right went forth to war.
And as a lasting record of those who returned not again, whose names are inscribed here."
