Spejbl a Hurvinek je legendarni dvojice drevenych loutek dle navrhu ceskeho loutkare Josefa Skupy. Pozdeji byla dvojice Spejbla a Hurvinka doplnena o postavu Manicky, pani Kateriny a psa Zeryka. Jeste drive prisla na svet pani Drbalkova, ktera ovsem neni hlavni postavou. Dalsi postavy zatim asi pribyvat nebudou. Proslule loutky Spejbla a Hurvinka vznikly v roce 1920 (Spejbl) a 1926 (Hurvinek). Zivot jim vdechl a jejich charakter urcil divadelni nadsenec Josef Skupa (1892–1957). Spejblovi prirkl roli nespokojeneho brucouna a popleteneho poucovatele sveho prostorekeho syna Hurvinka. Mluvil obe postavy tak, ze plynule prechazel z basu otcova do fistulky synka.
First of the puppets, invented by Josef Skupa in 1920, was Spejbl – a retrograde teacher, barely bearing pace with things around him. Skupa then performed with him in cabarets in Western Bohemia. In 1926, he brought to life his son, Hurvínek – sometimes lazy, sometimes hyper-reactive child. In that time Skupa had handled to perform with both of them, even voice over for them, using his typical high-pitch voice for Hurvinek.
