Waterworks - Flüh, SO, Switzerland - Signs of History on Waymarking.com

In 1904 a group of local citizens founded the 'Wasserversorgungsgenossenschaft Flüh' (water supply cooperative), one of them donated a well and the surrounding area.

After almost 100 years the cooperative merged with others in the county to become the 'Wasserbund Hinteres Leimental (WHL AG)'.

The cooperative erected this plaque and a second one with a poem in front of the local waterworks facility in 2003, just after the merger.

Wasserversorgungsgenossenschaft Flüh
24. Oktober 1904 - 23. Mai 2003

1904 gründeten mutige Flühner Männer eine eigene Wasserversorgungsgenossenschaft. Josef Oser stellte die Quelle Goldbrunnen mit der zugehörigen Wiese entschädigungslos zur Verfügung.

Er erklärte: "Ein Mann, Ein Wort"

Der Mut zur eigenen Wasserversorgung wurde belohnt. Die Genossenschaft wuchs und gedieh. Grosse Investitionen konnten fast immer mit eigenen Mitteln finanziert werden.

Nach fast hundert Jahren aber wurde eine neue Organisationsform nötig.

2003 ging deshalb die WVG Flüh in dem, von ihr initiierten, Wasserbung Hinteres Leimental (WHL AG) auf.

Das Netz der Feinverteilung übernahm die Einwohnergemeinde von Hoffstetten-Flüh.
