Built in 1827 in brown brick with a slate roof hidden behind a plain parapet, this Grade II listed house was the residence of John Aickman, an iron foundry owner. It is two storeys high and four bays wide.
The southern, leftmost, bay is a carriageway entrance to the former iron foundry in Aickman's Yard. The walls to either side of the entrance are protected by cast iron bollards. Over the archway is a cast iron sign showing the building date. It reads:
JOHN AICKMAN'S
FOUNDERY,
MDCCCXXVII
To the right of the archway are three sash windows with glazing bars and gauged skewback arches whilst there are four similar windows on the first floor. The house is entered through a panelled door built into the north side of the passageway. It has a round-arched doorcase and decorative fanlight. The top two panels of door are now glazed.
