Formed in 1934 by the merger of the Reformed and Orthodox congregations in Terre Haute. First known as United Temple, the name was later changed to United Hebrew Congregation. Currently, the congregation has about 50 family members. Almost all are professionals with many affiliated with the two local educational institutions: Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Indiana State University.
