One of the most widely recognised multi million dollar surfing brands started out in this area in 1969. The company has been in existence in this location since virtually starting as a small local outlet.

In 1969 Doug Warbrick and Bryan Singer started manufacturing surfboards and grew to making wetsuits in 1970 for surfing in the colder waters of southern Victoria.
The 2 partners started with a small sewing machine cutting out rubber patterns into a world wide giant.
It is now a world wide name through its diversity into clothing, surfboards, wetsuits and other surfing items.
Rip Curl also manufacture mountainwear for the ski season.
Each year it sponsors the Rip Curl Pro not far away from its headquarters at a location called Bells Beach. The pinaccle event for surfers of which the winner is giving a brass bell trophy to wave above there head.
