Obertauern was an old mining village. Due to globalization mining was given up in the first half of the 20th century. In the second half, the ski tourism was discovered and the first ski lifts were built.
Today there are many different ski lifts and slopes of different difficulties. But most of them are "blue".
As a special in this Resort, you can ski around the whole village - the "Tauernrunde" with many bridges for skiers over the main road makes this possible!
You can start from any lift, go around the village and end at your starting point!
The most difficult ski slope is the "Gamsleiten 2". Only for advanced skiers, this ski slope makes really much fun!
