Goodrich's Maple Farm is located on US Route 2 between the villages of Marshfield and West Danville, Vermont. It is family owned and operated since 1840.
You can get tours of the Maple Syrup production facility and learn about how Maple Sap is harvested and evaporated to produce Maple Syrup. Mr. Goodrich kindly explains how Maple Sugar and Syrup production has evolved over the years. In the olden times, cast iron pots over fires were used to evaporate the water and all collection was manual. Nowadays, sugar maple sap "pipelines" run from the trees into 6,000 gallon collection trucks. The sap is concentrated by having the water evaporated in the "worlds largest sap evaporator", capable of concentrating sap from 33,000 trees.
