Kaivopuisto park is one of the oldest and best known parks in central Helsinki, Finland.

Coordinates takes you to one of the entrances to the park. There is this Information sign. Default image view to the Observatory comes by walking about hundred meters from the sign along the wide tree path Observatory is on left hand side..
Park is quite big covering 0.45 km² with many kinds of terrain flat ground and cliffs. There can be found also traces of fortifications from 18th centery. Park is very popular place for Helsinkians for picnics, sunbathe or do sports in summer and in winter time parks slopes are used in tobogganing..

In a park there is also a famous Restaurant and night club called Kaivohuone and Observatory from the 1830's.

Most popular time for picnic is Vappu - 1st of May. In these days celebrations park is packed with tens of thousands of Helsinkians, who come to have a picnic with their friends and families.

Since the mid-1970s, a few concerts in the park are held during the summer, with classical music, but more often pop and rock music, and usually featuring Finnish artists.

To the south, Kaivopuisto borders the Gulf of Finland. To the north is a residential area containing the official private residences of several ambassadors of foreign countries to Finland, including USA, Estonia, Spain, France, The Netherlands and United Kingdom.
