The Kenai National Wildlife Refuge was established in in 1941 was the Kenai Moose Range. It was renamed and status changed to the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge in 1980 as part of Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act. The refuge has 1.92 million acre within its borders with much of it without roads.
The coordinates above are for the headquarters building. Within the headquarters they have several displays about the wildlife and plants within the refuge.
