"Tsiamelo - This monument was erected by the people of Howick to commemorate the site of arrest of President Nelson R. Mandela on 5 August 1962.
The plaque was unveiled by the President of the republic of South Africa on occasion of receiving honorary citizenship on 12 December 1996"
