The artist's and philosopher's colony on Monte Verità was founded in 1900 and has attracted many famous people in the following two decades.
The museum is in the house of the founders of the colony built in 1904 (some sources say 1902). In 1981 the current museum opened.
The museum is currently closed for renovation, but there are still various other interesting spots on the area.
