Not only is this garden itself gorgeous but the surrounding area is awesome as well. The garden is located in the downtown Hackensack city park area right behind the rustic and charming log cabin library and on the shores of beautiful Birch Lake. Located nearby is the city park, picnic shelter, boat ramp, fishing pier and so much more including statues of Paul Bunyan, his sweetheart Lucette Kensack (after all Hackensack is her home town) and Paul Jr. I(who was born in Hackensack.)
The garden has a variety of flowers to attract butterflies, high and low and including my favorites high cranberry and butterfly bush. There is a concrete bench in the park with gravel trails, it is a beautiful spot to stop and smell the flowers, watch the butterflies and enjoy the waterfront view.
The Memorial Garden was created by a community partnership of the Birch Lake Association and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
