The grade 2 listed Node Court at Driver’s End has the largest thatched roof in Hertfordshire.

Node court, now a business centre, was originally built as a model dairy in 1928 by Maurice Chesterton. The building’s design is believed to have been inspired by Marie Antoinette’s dairy in Le Hameau, Versailles. The building is circular in shape and is covered with a single continuous roof of thatch. Inside the circular building is a courtyard, which would have originally been used as a turning space for milk lorries.
Photographs of the front and rear elevations do not totally give the scale of the building. Included in the photographs is an aerial photograph of the building and car parks, which gives some idea of the scale of the thatched roof.
There is not a plaque at Node Court stating that it has the largest thatched roof. However, a mile or so away at the centre of Codicote (N51 50.978 W000 14.194) there is a parish history information board which does make the claim.
