The Potter Section house was built to house railroad maintenance crews for a ten mile section of the Alaska Railroad south of Anchorage. The house and out house were built in 1929. The outhouse was used until the mid-1950s when indoor plumbing was added to the section house. The section house is now the Headquarters for the Chugach State Park.
