Marsh unintentionally created when the Alaska Railroad was built is one of the best bird observation areas around Anchorage.

Potters Marsh is located a few miles south of Anchorage. The site has a 1,550-foot boardwalk with several interpretive signs to help identify the many birds and other other wildlife observed in the area. The site also has several telescopes and binoculars mounted to give a close up view of the birds. Several types of waterfowl along with bald eagles along with other marsh birds and animals can be observed in the marsh.
