Viola School was built to serve the growing farm population southeast of Portland. It was the second school built in the area, after one in the heart of the nearby town of Estacada. It was closed in the summer of 1941, and lay dormant and abandoned for years. A few years back a local group was formed to restore the building, and use it as a meeting and community hall. Unfortunately, while the building has been preserved, it doesn't seem to be in use very much.
